Elon Musk became the first person in the world to accumulate a net worth exceeding USD 800 billion in February 2026. The milestone marked an unprecedented level of individual wealth and further strengthened his position as the world’s richest entrepreneur.
A major factor behind the surge was the merger of SpaceX and xAI, which created a combined entity valued at approximately USD 1.25 trillion. The restructuring reportedly added around USD 84 billion to Musk’s wealth by consolidating his stakes in the two companies.
Following the merger, SpaceX emerged as Musk’s most valuable asset, supported by its space-launch business, Starlink satellite network and government contracts.
Tesla also remained a major contributor to his wealth through his shares and stock options. Musk’s wealth had risen from about USD 500 billion in October 2025 to over USD 800 billion by February 2026.
